Recently a large list of (100) celebrities with STD’s was released by the Disease Control and Prevention Services as part of the STD awareness month. This is creating quite a stir around town and has caused quite a bit of embarrassment to the celebrities named as having STD’s. To see the list and read my opinion on this, keep reading.
Massive list of celebrities with STDs!
The company that released this list entitled “The Study on Celebrities with STDs” aims to support that effort by showing everyday people that no one no matter how rich or famous is above having their life changed forever in the blink of an eye.
The celebrity list was broken down and categorized by occupation as well as disease into 10 categories. The categories are activists, actors, actresses, athletes, authors, journalists, musicians, politicians, porn stars, and reality stars.
Here are the STD celebrity highlights.
Hepatitis C: is a viral disease that leads to swelling (inflammation) of the liver. You can get Hep C by having unprotected sex, sharing needles, getting a blood transplant (before 1992), received a tattoo with a dirty needle, shared a razor with someone infected or was born by a mother with it.
Celebrities with Hepatitis C:
Keith Richards
Steven Tyler
Natasha Lyonne
Naomi Judd
Natalie Cole
Ken Watanabe
Pamela Anderson
Tommy Lee
David Crosby
Genital Herpes: Genital herpes is a sexually transmitted infection (STI) caused by the herpes simplex virus (HSV). A herpes infection can be contracted if your skin, vagina, penis, or mouth comes into contact with someone who already has herpes. You are most likely to get herpes if you touch the skin of someone who has herpes sores, blisters, or a rash. However, the herpes virus can still be spread even when no sores or other symptoms are present. Sometimes, the person does not even know they are infected.
Celebrities with herpes:
Liza Minelli
Paris Hilton
David Hasselhoff
Anne Heche
Robin Williams
Chelsea Handler
Billy Idol
Aaaaand probably anyone who has fallen asleep on Lindsay Lohan’s bed.
Is is wrong to share with the world what celebrity has an STD?
If the celebrity has already shared it with the public, either in a book or a press statement, then no. However, if this was not previous public knowledge, it’s very wrong and could actually be against the law. Personally I do think showing this list does bring awareness to STD’s which is good, but I do feel bad for celebrities who have released this information a long time ago, only to have it rehashed in the press.
Remember, using a condom can help protect against STDs!
